On Friday, we had a wonderful birthday celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. The students participated in a peace march and heard Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream Speech.” Thank you to Mrs. Jamait and Mrs. Breen for putting together this celebration.
Next Friday, I will be taking the fourth graders to the Fort Benjamin Harrison Home. A permission slip will come home in tomorrow’s Thursday Folder. I do not need any volunteers. Students will have a Chapter 4 Social Studies test on Friday, January 29.
In Math, we continue our study of fractions. We are currently working on equivalent fractions.
The students are enjoying The Watsons Go to Birmingham. We will be reading this novel through the month of February.
Students wrote letters back to their pen pals this week. Our pen pals are from an orphanage in Kenya. The students were extremely impressed with their written language expression and have enjoyed learning about Kenya.
In English, we are continuing our study of verbs. We will begin discussing the present tense, past tense, and future tense of verbs.
